Lindsey Wixson sits down with Chanel Archives to discuss shooting the Spring 2014 ready to wear campaign, as well as her bridal Chanel finale and the collaborative process with the legendary Karl Lagerfeld โ read more below.
โThe campaign was shot inside Karlโs studio, and I was with Sasha Luss. I wasnโt familiar with her then, she was new, but weโve since become friends. Karl really liked that I had a melancholy look on my face, I remember that.โ
For Fall 2012 Haute Couture, Lindsey was chosen to close the show in a bridal look that had a white feather overcoat, extended collar, with a full tulle skirt. I asked what the lead up to that moment looked like:
โI was doing other major runway shows already, and had been seen by Amanda Harlech in a Tim Walker shoot where I was styled like a doll. That job put me in front of Karl, and thatโs when I became his muse. But there was also someone else up for that bride position, it was Cara Delevingne, and I think I was a replacement for that.โ
Circling back to Spring 2014 RTW (the โArt Galleryโ collection) with the graffiti backpacks, watercolour canvas flap bags and heeled sock boots, has always stuck in my mind. Returning to the campaign, Lindsey said:
โI was pretty excited and treated it like the best job in the world, which it was.โ
